The Swatch Group introduced their first collection of watches on March 1, 1983, and since then, they have produced a large range of different quartz watches. The company began as a way of rebuilding the Swiss watch manufacturing business, which had lost ground to Seiko and other Japanese watch companies during the 1960s.
Swatch ’s first collection of watches, unveiled in Zurich, Switzerland, introduced a very bold style and design. The watch mechanics were simpler and required fewer parts, a design which made the watches both easier to work on and more efficient to manufacture. It was this innovative new design that helped put Switzerland back on top of the watch market.

Pitchfork: 1977 sounds more specific lyrically than your other albums. Do you feel like that's true?
Terius Nash: Definitely. I think the thing that's a big hit with everybody is how vulnerable those lyrics are. I just have to be able to take whatever the brunt of the bullshit’s gonna be. In a room of 100 people, 50 are going to hate me. There’s nothing I can do about it. I’m not trying to convince people anymore-- if they think I'm the bad guy then I’m just going to be the fucking dope-ass bad guy.
Like, there could be 80 million people that hit the Internet if you do something wrong, saying, “Oh, I can’t believe this happened.” Meanwhile, the same thing is happening to them. That’s how it works. It's like how the guy who was running around catching pedophiles was then caught cheating on his wife . Where’s the line? Everybody does shit; everybody fails. So stop acting like there’s some person out here that’s like Jesus. If there is, bring him to me, and we shall start to worship him again.
